Dennis is an English automotive company producing buses from the first years of the twentieth century. In the 80s, Dennis split into two separate companies, one of which continues to manufacture numerous chassis for buses. From the existing two independent companies Dennis, the manufacture of the bus chassis is the main branch of Dennis Specialist Vehicles in Guildford. The bus chassis Lancet and Dart are available, in which British and foreign specialized firms installed small and medium-sized bodies. Currently, Dennis offers 4 series of bus chassis. The simplest "classic" Lancet chassis with a wheelbase of 5805 mm is equipped with a Cummins 6-cylinder 5.9-liter Cummins diesel engine with a power of 145 hp, installed longitudinally in the rear overhang of the chassis, as well as an Allison automatic 4-speed transmission and air suspension all wheels.
The range of lightweight low-frame chassis Dart SLF has 3 wheelbase sizes (4400, 5200, 5805 mm) and is equipped with two variants of Cummins diesel engine in 130 and 145 hp, also located longitudinally behind. Such chassis are designed for urban and suburban buses of 9.5-11.0 m in length with a capacity of up to 45 passengers and a total weight of up to 12 tons.
Javelin Series
Chassis Dennis Javelin are available in several sizes with a wheelbase from 4000 to 6250 mm and Cummins engines with a power of 220-300 hp, located vertically in the middle of the chassis between the frame side members. They use a mechanical 6-speed box, air suspension and front disc brakes. Such chassis serve for the creation of tourist buses with a total mass of 13.5-18.0 tons.
Super Dart Series
Extended Super Dart chassis with 160 hp engine and the base of 5950 mm is designed for suburban buses 11-12 m long, with a capacity of 65 people and a mass of 13 tons. The main body manufacturer for them is the company Plaxton, which produces on the chassis Dart buses Mini Pointer and Super Pointer.
Trident 3 Series (6x2)
The Dennis program is completed by a 3-axle Trident 3 chassis (6x2) with a rear six-cylinder 305-hp Cummins diesel engine in a longitudinal arrangement and a 3-speed Voith transmission. It is mounted 2-storey car bodies for city buses with a gross weight up to 24 tons.
