PREVOST Car History

Some PREVOST Coach Manuals PDF are above the page.

Prevost Car is a Canadian bus company owned by Volvo. It produces buses - mainly three-axle ones - tourist and long-distance, with lengths from 12.2 to 13.7 meters.

The main is a series of buses XL II, offered both in tourist and long-distance performance, as well as an "apartment house on wheels", a car for business trips, etc. The engines range from 370 to 445 liters. from.

The company was founded in 1924 by the carpenter Eugene Prevost (1898-1965), who before that specialized in benches for churches and furniture for schools.

In 1924 he received an order for construction on the chassis of the REO bus. The company, then called Les Ateliers Prévost, subsequently received several re-orders, there were very few one or two orders a year. But gradually the design of buses changed and from wooden they became metal (since 1945), business developed and got to its feet.

In 1957 the company was acquired by Paul Normand. In 1969, two American businessmen formed a partnership with André Normand who at that time was the president of the company, so there were three owners.

In 1995, the company was sold to Volvo Bus Corporation, but the Prevost trademark was retained.

As of February 2007, the firm has 1337 employees. Six departments and service centers operate in North America.
